how to makeover a goodwill canvas with paint

Interest

You never know what you might find at Goodwill! I love the thrill of the hunt! On this last trip, I was able to find this huge canvas! If you want to watch my LIVE stream where I shared all my loot, head over to the right. HERE!

Was it my style? No, but that didn’t matter. I had a plan in mind and knew that with a little TLC, it could be a statement piece in my home.

Let’s see what I did!

First, I simply bought some of my small .50 acrylic paints from Walmart and started painting.

I simply wanted to paint this exact painting in different colors, practically painting directly over what was already there!

I used fire engine red, cameo pink, jet black and white… along with Kelly green, swamp green and Key West.

There aren’t really many instructions on this except that I just took my brushes and started painting over the top of the canvas. It covered VERY well! I was pleasantly surprised!

I started with all the flowers. I went with red and added some pink details.

I then went over the green stems with my swamp green and highlighted them with some Kelly green!

Once I had all my flowers and stems painted, I decided to add some black in the center.

Then I moved on to the background and filled it in with some white mixed with a little bit of Key West. That part was a little bit harder because I was trying not to cover up where I painted. I’m not sure if that was the best method, but it worked in the end.

In the end, I repainted some of the areas with more red paint to cover up some of the imperfections in the white paint. It turned out even better than I could have imagined!

I’m not an artist and I certainly don’t paint very well, but I was excited to share this makeover because I think it turned out SO CUTE and looks great on my wall.

Artwork of this size can be very expensive, and I am proud to have a piece of art of this size that I made myself! I am having a proud mom moment with my painting!

Would you think this was a thrift store remodel if you saw it in my house?

So what do you think? Are you going to go to the thrift store to find a canvas to repaint?

MAKE SURE TO SAVE IT FOR LATER!
